What Is an ISP Proxy?
An ISP proxy — also widely known in the industry as a static residential proxy — is a proxy type that is physically hosted in data centers, but whose IP blocks are registered to the autonomous systems (ASNs) of real internet service providers. This dual nature is what has made ISP proxies the fastest-growing proxy category of recent years.
When a target site looks up your IP address it sees two pieces of information: which network the address is registered to, and where it is hosted. With a classic datacenter proxy both answers are "hosting company", and that combination gets flagged quickly on protected platforms. With an ISP proxy the registration points to a real ISP (Verizon, AT&T, Türk Telekom and so on), so the site treats you as a connection that is trustworthy at residential level. At the same time, because you physically run on high-capacity servers, you are not affected by the variable speed of home connections.
The result is the best of both worlds: the speed and stability of datacenter with the trustworthiness of residential. Bandwidth of up to 1 Gbps, latency under 20 milliseconds and residential-level IP reputation all come together.
Why Does ASN Registration Matter So Much?
All of an ISP proxy's value is hidden in its ASN registration, so understanding this concept is critical. An ASN is a unique number that states which organization each IP block on the internet belongs to, and it can be queried in public databases. Bot protection systems look at the ASN of an incoming request's IP and answer the question "does this address belong to a hosting company or to an ISP?" within seconds.
Traffic from a hosting ASN is put through extra scrutiny on the logic that "a normal user shouldn't be here". Traffic from an ISP ASN is treated as natural. This is exactly why you need to know that some products sold under the name "ISP proxy" are actually ordinary datacenter IPs. Verify the IP's ASN registration before you buy — any IP-to-ASN lookup service will show whether the registered organization is an ISP.
The Difference Between an ISP Proxy and a Residential Proxy
Both products carry genuine ISP reputation, but they work in fundamentally different ways.
| Criterion | ISP Proxy | Residential Proxy |
| IP persistence | Permanent (yours alone) | Sticky 1-30 min |
| Speed | 1 Gbps, DC backbone | Home line speed (variable) |
| Pricing model | Per IP, unlimited traffic | Per GB |
| IP diversity | As many as you buy | Millions |
| Ideal for | Account management, fixed identity | High-volume crawling |
Residential proxyIPs run over real user lines and change regularly; they offer broad diversity, but you cannot hold on to a single IP for long. With an ISP proxy, the IP is yours alone and static — it does not change for as long as your subscription lasts. This difference defines the product's main use case.
The Difference Between an ISP Proxy and a Datacenter Proxy
Datacenter proxy is static and fast too, but its IPs are registered to hosting ASNs and get flagged on protected targets. An ISP proxy combines the performance of datacenter infrastructure with the credibility of ISP registration. That is why it costs more than datacenter, yet its success rate is far more predictable in protected scenarios. Put simply: if your target is tolerant, datacenter is enough and cheaper; if account security is critical, the price difference works like an insurance premium.
Why Is a Long-Term Static IP Critical?
Modern platforms measure account security not only by password but by behavioral consistency , and one of the strongest signals of that consistency is IP continuity. Picture an account that logs in every day from a different country, on a different network. In the algorithm's eyes that account may have been compromised, and it accumulates a risk score. Now picture the same account connecting every day from the same ISP, the same city, the same IP — that is the natural behavior of an ordinary user.
An ISP proxy provides exactly that naturalness. Your static IP gives your account a stable "digital home address":
- "New device/location" alerts are not triggered — every login comes from a familiar place.
- Verification loops decrease — you don't have to deal with constant SMS/email confirmations.
- Sessions don't drop — long operations complete without interruption.
- Accounts stay isolated from one another — a separate IP per account means platforms cannot link them.
Use Cases
Social Media Account Management
For agencies and brands managing multiple social media accounts, the ISP proxy is the standard tool. By assigning a dedicated static IP to each account you isolate the accounts from one another and break the "one person running many accounts" signal. Combined with anti-detect browsers (each profile = a separate ISP IP + a separate fingerprint) you get the safest setup possible. Details: social media proxy.
E-Commerce and Multiple Stores
Marketplaces link a seller's multiple stores by IP; if detected, all of the stores can be suspended together. Assigning a dedicated ISP IP to each store removes that risk. Logging in to the store dashboard with the same identity every time also eliminates verification friction. See e-commerce proxy.
Automation and Bots
You connect your 24/7 bots to a fixed, fast and steady exit. Because traffic is unlimited you don't need to track a quota; in critical flows that need failover you can define a second ISP IP as a backup. See automation proxy.
Long-Session Data Work
Some data sources require logging in and working under the same identity for hours. Rotating residential's 30-minute sticky limit falls short here; an ISP proxy's permanent IP is ideal.
Dedicated or Shared?
There are two models in the ISP proxy market, and the choice directly affects your security. Shared IPs are sold to more than one customer; it is the cheapest option, but your neighbors' behavior also shapes the IP's reputation — if someone abuses the IP, you are affected too. Dedicated The IP belongs to you alone; its reputation record is entirely under your control.
For critical work such as account management, the IP must be dedicated. In FreeProxy.tr ISP plans every IP is allocated to a single customer, which guarantees the isolation account work requires.
Protocol Support and Authentication
All ISP proxy plans support HTTP, HTTPS and SOCKS5 . Your credentials are delivered in ip:port:username:password format. Two authentication methods are available:
- Username / password: The classic method; you can connect from anywhere.
- IP whitelist: You register your fixed server IP; connections from that IP are accepted without a password. Practical for automation and server-side integrations.
ISP Proxy Setup
Because an ISP proxy is a static IP:port, setup is extremely simple — it goes straight into any browser, anti-detect tool or code client:
| Environment | Usage |
| Anti-detect browser | Enter ip:port:user:pass in the profile settings |
| curl | curl --proxy ip:port --proxy-user user:pass https://api.ipify.org |
| Firefox | Manual proxy in the network settings; enter the credentials in the authentication dialog |
| Automation (whitelist) | Add your server IP in the dashboard; connect without a password |
What to Watch for When Buying
- Genuine ASN registration: Verify by lookup that the IP is registered to an ISP.
- Dedicated or shared: Always dedicated for account work.
- Location match: Choose a country/city that matches the account's audience — for Turkish accounts, Turkey ISP.
- Traffic policy: Traffic should be unlimited on genuine ISP plans.
- IP change allowance: Free IP changes should be offered when needed.
Common Mistakes
- Using one IP for several critical accounts: It breaks isolation; give every account its own IP.
- Using rotating proxies for account work: Choosing residential rotation when a static IP is needed triggers verification.
- Not isolating the fingerprint: IP isolation alone is not enough; combine it with an anti-detect browser.
- Managing accounts with free proxies: Shared addresses with an unknown history put your accounts at risk.
Using It Together with Residential
ISP and residential are not rivals but complements. Many of our customers run session-based work on ISP and high-volume crawling on rotating residential — both plans are managed from a single dashboard. An e-commerce team, for example, manages its store dashboards with ISP IPs while crawling competitor prices through the residential pool. The right architecture is usually not a single product but a smart combination of products.
How many IPs do you need?
