Instagram constantly monitors which device and which network an account connects from. The IP addresses an account has seen over its history, its device identity and its behavioral pattern together form a trust score . For agencies and multi-account managers, a proxy is a tool for protecting that score — not for breaking it.
What Does Instagram Look At?
A proxy changes only the second layer. If the other three layers are inconsistent, even the best IP will not save the account.
The Right IP Type
The overwhelming majority of Instagram traffic comes from the mobile app. That is why the platform is accustomed to mobile carrier IPs and judges those ranges more tolerantly. Datacenter IPs, by contrast, are identified at the very first check.
The datacenter column is weak from top to bottom. Creating a new account is the most sensitive operation, and options other than a mobile IP carry clear risk.
The Golden Rule: One Account, One IP
The pairing between an account and an IP must be permanent . An account that connects from Istanbul today and Frankfurt tomorrow looks compromised in the platform's eyes. That is why rotating proxies are not used for Instagram management; ISP proxy or ones with long sticky sessions are preferred. mobile proxy is the better choice.
The first link in the chain is not the change in IP type but the break in consistency.
Setup Approach
- One profile per account: run each account in a separate browser profile or anti-detect profile.
- Match the time zone: if you use a TR IP, the profile time zone must be Istanbul too. You can spot any mismatch on the My IP Address page.
- Language setting: choose a language/region consistent with the IP's country.
- Warm-up period: use a new account only for browsing in the first week; do not run bulk actions.
- If you must change IP: stay within the same city/carrier.
Bandwidth Budget
Instagram is a media-heavy platform; on GB-based residential/mobile packages, consumption climbs fast. As a rough estimate: 5–15 MB per minute while browsing the feed, and over 40 MB per minute while watching video. Managing 10 accounts for 20 minutes a day each can mean 30–60 GB per month.
Do not choose a GB package without estimating your traffic. If you need unlimited traffic, ISP proxy is more predictable.
